Advocacy and Legislation​

  • ACRM successfully amended Alabama’s mental health laws, protecting consumer choice and recovery services.
  • ACRM successfully passed a consumer protection bill scheduling Kratom via the Alabama legislature to respond to predatory supplement industry practices that threaten recovery communities.
  • ACRM successfully worked with the Alabama Department of Public Health to protect consumers from Tianeptine, an unregulated, addictive supplement with dangerous withdrawal symptoms.
  • ACRM successfully helped send a bill to the Governor's office scheduling Tianeptine and Phenibut, two illegally imported European pharmaceuticals that act like opioids and benzodiazepines.
